Men's Argentine Tango SCENT©:
Skills, Characteristics, Etiquette, Navigation, Technique©

This original concept was created, developed and established to focus entirely on developing
the Man’s role as leader in the Argentine Tango, woman as follower.  Our series are expressly crafted for Tango Students; from time to time we will offer Instructor’s ONLY workshops, as we did last fall.

At this time, the Men's Argentine Tango SCENT© material is not available, or open to instructors -
teachers that currently offer their own lessons to students at an established location with a website / blog.

However, due to enquiries and demand for this exciting new programme, I am pleased to expand the course offering.  A pre-registration listing has already begun and more details will be available soon on:
  1. Women’s Role Reversal – Understanding the Lead,  men are invited as followers only
  2. Instructors Only Workshop - Understanding How to Teach the Lead and Most Effective Teaching Skills.  This is not intended for Students (see above courses) regardless of  years dancing.  It will be tailored specifically for Instructors / Teachers ONLY that currently offer or teach classes, at an established location including a website / blog.
  3. Instructors / Clubs interested in licensing the Men's Argentine Tango SCENT© material to teach at their own club facilities to their student following.
  4. Gay Tango, while we haven't received any requests, see here for the first "Tango Queer Workshop"
Should the instructor &/or teachers’ requirements for Teaching Men’s Leadership Workshops be more pressing, private lessons can be arranged based upon availability and mutually convenient times.

Please forward contact info if you would like to be added to the above workshops registrations.

We are pleased for this express interest, as there have been numerous visiting instructors from
BA and NA over the past 2 years in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver.  I believe this demand speaks
to the quality and value that Epicurean Tango Society is delivering.  Thank you for this vote of confidence.

Men's Argentine Tango SCENT© #1 ... don't miss it!

Wonderful Weekend of Back to Back Milongas and Practica!

It was a wonderfully full weekend of Tango! The extra-ordinary musical offering of Tango, Milonga and Vals from Friday, Saturday to Sunday evening was inspiring!

Friday began with a short drive to Edmonton (at least the weather was sunny and roads dry) to arrive at Vincenzo's and Ida's. Bless their Italian heart, Ida had homemade lasagna and YES IT WAS FABULOUS!

Ida guided me to the incredible flagship store of Spinelli's Italian Centre … now THAT's an Italian Market ! An amazing array of any and all Italian delicacies plus other very tantalizing treats! Good thing Tango was on my brain … I was so excited, because tonight, I get to dance!! Otherwise it
would have been very easy to have been swayed take a shopping cart, meander through the store and start to fill it!

Friday March 18th, Tango Divino hosted Tango al Caffe Milonga at Spinelli's. As we neared the Café, Tango music called for us to hurry up and get our shoes on.

The lights were already slightly dimmed a little ambient light set the rest in motion featuring the mouthwatering desserts inside and on top of the counter. The entrance included a café of choice and dessert. My choice: the decadent cannoli filled with crushed pistachio's and ricotta cheese, hmmm!

Spinelli's was transformed into an intimate café, the music was divine, Vincenzo's playlist
was an alluring collection of Tango, Milonga and Vals, that beckoned you to dance!
Guests arrived, Ida greeted everyone and the floor filled up!
Not only was there a great turnout but, a number of
Calgary Tangueros came to Edmonton to share in the Tango spirit!

Thank you to our hosts for a wonderful evening,
Vincenzo and Ida, Tango Divino
plus Manager Ricardo and Teresa, Owner of Spinelli's

Another Day, another Milonga! JoJo's with Vicente & Cristina Saturday March 19th

The turn out was very good and no doubt everyone was there to have fun, as Tangueros and Tangueras mixed partners throughout the night!  We danced to Vicente's very good selection of Tango, Milonga, Vals, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Jive.

Another wonderful time with dear friend and hosts Vincenzo & Ida
A big thank you to Vicente and Cristina for organizing
a very enjoyable evening of Tango, laughter, fun and friendly Tangueros!

Thank you to those Calgary Tangueros who embraced the Tango Spirit by attending the Edmonton Milongas.  It was a lot of fun and nice surprise for everyone to share in expanding our community!
We look forward to welcoming Edmonton Tangueros to our events.

JIT for Sunday March 20th Practica at Scarboro Hall 7 to 10 pm,
with enticing Tango, Milonga and Vals.
Since February 2010,
we have held twice weekly, 3 and 4 hour Tango Excellence Practicas
that include tea, coffee (w milk, cream, lemon, honey), juice, water in a Cafe style setting.
What a nice finish to the weekend of Tango to be back here
with everyone who shares the passion of Tango and community!

We look forward to Welcoming You!

2nd Mardi Gras Milonga Magnificence with Epicurean Tango Society

An orderly start set the stage for the marvelous madness of the 2nd Mardi Gras Milonga!!

We offered beads to adorn all, masques were on some, but everyone contributed to the magnificent Mardi Gras Milonga magic that filled the air from the very start until the clock struck TIME CHANGE … yikes!!! Who remembered that little detail? Never mind, no one wanted to leave, it was so much fun!

Tango music played as guests arrived, danced, laughed, talked, mingled, enjoyed wine, water, bubbly, as the hall continued to fill with a magical sparkle … suddenly, a fragrant Kicked Up Jambalaya permeated the air, catching every Tangueros' attention! Emeril's richly seasoned rice was overflowing with his Creole Essence spiced chicken, Angus steak sausage and sole fish … if it sounds fabulous and flavorful, the taste was heavenly, an abundant offering befitting of the Mardi Gras King and Queen Celebrations!

This was the optimum setting for our impromptu surprise: live Tango music played by Darcy, the accordionist / bandoneon player from Orquestra Libertango! His wonderful selection of Tango inspired many to dance and in appreciation of Darcy sharing his Tango Spirit, they generously tipped his playing!

The ambiance continued to smoulder as we welcomed, Vincenzo & Ida, of Tango Divino Edmonton, whose presence is always a delight! We appreciate these beautiful Tangueros for their generous Tango Spirit: exuding warmth, friendliness, passion for tango and joy of sharing this dance with everyone, from absolute beginners to more experienced Tangueros respectively, throughout the evening.

With a gentle coaxing, they graciously accepted my request for a Milonga and Vals Performance – totally improvisational as social Tango should be danced; an exciting Milonga (with exceptional traspie) to D'Arienzo's Milonga del Corazon followed by an exhilarating Vals to De Angelis' Ilusion Azul.

Vincenzo gave a birthday tribute to Astor Piazzolla, with Oblivion and Jeanne y Paul to honour: an amazing visionary, whose illustrious career spanned over 6 decades with more than 1000 compositions, arrangements and orchestrations. In the 40's Piazzolla began experimenting with both rhythm and harmonic complexities that veered off the traditional tango makeup. However, it wasn't until he returned to Argentina from studying music in Paris, that he creatively explored and developed the full influence of traditional Tango, classical and jazz which became known as Tango Nuevo in the 50's. Interestingly, while Piazzolla received international acclaim and great success, for many years, his Argentino countrymen disowned him for corrupting Tango!
Finally!

2011 Mardi Gras King Cake specially made for Epicurean Tango by Manel Latruwe!

We were excited to offer this exceptional, delectable, exquisitely filled Cake to our guests in Calgary! It is only the 2nd time ever, that Manuel has made the King Cake, originally from France! Both times were for Epicurean Tango Society's Mardi Gras Milonga. Urban myths say our 2011 King Cake was LARGER than the original one, a hearty and hefty 30" x 30" cake, which required 2 men to move it in and around the hall! Regardless of its massive majesty, in no time flat, the only thing left to admire was the beautiful gold foil it once graced! A lone, slender fingerling remained, that I was lucky to taste for Sunday
Breakfast!

Exceptional Mardi Gras King Cake Manuel !!  But who found the ALMOND (or the baby??)
There's a prize, so let me know!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the
2nd Mardi Gras Milonga … it was magical!

Epicurean Tango Society
with
Tango Divino Edmonton
Celebrates a Sensational
March 5th & 6th, 2011
Technique Excellence & Musicality Series©
This was an exciting, invigorating and magical weekend workshop! I have NEVER felt such a high level energy buzz with joy emanating from each person, as we learned, shared, danced and had a lot of fun!
Vincenzo and Ida infuse so much passion into their teaching, that each Tanguero responded in kind with a great mental and physical intensity to learn.
We rejuvenated ourselves with a variety of beverages and food, plus a little time out to mingle as well as continue dancing.
No one wanted the magic to end!
Unfortunately we forgot to take a group photo!

Comments: "best workshop ... the best instructors ... great pace ... I learned how to do ... I understand why .... I had so much fun ... this is exactly what I was looking for …" It was simply amazing!

Thank you to everyone who joined us, we look forward to continuing our Tango journey with you!

Thank you to Vincenzo and Ida, for sharing your Tango Spirit, technique, musicality, history, knowledge and infusing the passionate desire for learning and elevating our Tango and Milonga!

It was a fulfilling workshop and exceeded expectations … our Tango desire is smouldering!

We can't wait for the 2 Hour Men's Focus Workshop on April 2nd, 2011 followed by the Simply Tango Milonga at 8 pm on Saturday April 2nd – check out the early booking promo & don't forget to RSVP!

Many thanks for sharing last evening & introducing me to dancing the Tango.

Considering all the hard work you put in to make these evenings successful Sandra.

Thank you for a fabulous time...

Hello Sandra,

I would like to let you know that I had a fabulous time in the Milonga last night.

The venue, the people, the conversations, the food, the music and the dancing were all enjoyable. In addition, the promotion of multi-culture - giving out red pockets for the Chinese New Year was noted and appreciated!

I also enjoyed dancing a little bit of other Latin dances – Cha cha, Salsa, Merenge, Cumbia and Rumba. Thank you.

I look forward to attending the next Milonga. Hopefully, you and I could dance a song or two.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I enjoyed your Tango demonstrations, you are poetry in motion on the dance floor.

I really appreciated having the opportunity to share your table & visit with you in addition to receiving your patient Tango instructions.

It is very gracious of you to offer to teach me to dance the Argentine Tango and I am enthusiastically looking forward to mastering this very expressive Dance.

Thanks for the praise. Remember, it is the lady that makes a guy look good on the dance floor, ALWAYS.

Certainly nice to connect up with you, I shall make some arrangement to get you a good training partner and we shall take your dancing to serveral nodges up in no time.

Glad to contribute, Sandra and thanks for the invitation. You and Ralph and become a very important social centre for tango in Calgary very quickly!

Sorry I left early. I've been working very long days during the week, part of the weekend, because a broker has left and I'm taking over his book. That is on top of my regular work and although it's rewarding it's very tiring! As well, I've been fighting sinusitis for weeks now (I really don't like taking antibiotics), so I need lots of sleep.

Take care, see you on the dance floor soon,

Hi Ron!

I'm so pleased you'll be joining us for the Mardi Gras Milonga!

We have all been where you're at, but part of the Tango spirit is to share that joy. In Tango, you are always learning.

It is a pleasure to see your enthusiasm and there is no doubt with guidance from Anthony, Tess and Frank plus your keen desire to Tango, it will soon flow.

It is practice, perseverence and more practice, but there is no doubt - you will develop into a beautiful Tanguero, especially with your tall frame and long legs.

We believe in you and know, the butterfly that resides within will emerge.

See you this evening!

Hi Sandra;

Thank you for introducing me to Tango & your encouragement provides even more incentive to improve.

Unfortunately I am unable to join you for sundays Tango Practica as I will be with my son Mike this

I look forward to being with you for more Tango next week.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend Sandra.

Hola Guylene, Sandra, Ralph,

Couldn't make it to tango tonight because I'm packing for a four day trip to Banff - leaving

tomorrow and reutrning Sunday - and then for my trip to AR, which leaves Monday morning. I'll be

back for the next tango night at DQ March 24, dance on in the meantime!

Sandra and Ralph, hope your next milonga is a smashing success!

abrazo,

David

Hello Sandra!!!

How are you?

Thanks for your e-mails and for the reminder for the Tango Practica on Thursdays and Sundays.

I will be there on Sunday for sure.!!! I will not be able to go on Thursdays because I have some classes in Bow Valley at that hour.

By the way, I would like to confirm my assistance to the Milonga on March.

The last Milonga was incredibly beautiful. I enjoyed every part of it: the decorations on the tables, the music , the food -which was so delicious- and the most important part: all the people who made an extraordinary atmosphere.

Everybody was still there at 1am. It is a pity that I had left because the cab was already there waiting for me, but for the next Milonga I will take the necessary previsions to leave it later.

:D

Thanks again for such incredible organization, for your effort and enthusiasm to organize it, a marvelous option that is already lighting the Tango life in Calgary.

Regards,

JUAN CARLOS

Hi Sandra and Ralph,

THANK YOU so much for bringing in Marcos and Ruta to Calgary for not only are they such super nice people, they are incredible teachers! Over the years, I have taken many dance disciplines and private lessons and I believe that they are simply the best ... at least for the way I learn.

Thank you too for a wonderful evening last night. You and Ralph have done a wonderful job in organizing the event ... you both also looked super last night.

Wishing you both big success in all your future endeavors!

Regards,
Cynthia
