First North American Tour - Premieres Here!
* Tango Musicality Class * Concert * Gala Evening *

 featuring:
 Ariel Obregon, Contrabajo Big Bass
 Ignacio Javier Quiroz, Violin
Javier Omar Jose Stroman, Bandoneon
with Conductor, Composer, Pianist Alejandro Ziegler

In 2007 he formed, "Alejandro Ziegler Cuartet"  developing their own unique style of tango music reflecting both innovation and tradition. The ensemble is a new synthesis of the traditional tango orchestra, playing in the Golden Age style of Di Sarli, Pugliese, Troilo and Gobbi, amongst others. With a mix of various grooves and different arrangements, each members' expressive, personal playing style is featured.  You can feel the on stage communication between the four musicians as they playfully flirt with the powerful intensity of chamber musical expression, yet respectful of these magnificent original compositions.  Ziegler 's own compositions come alive through surprising, intimate arrangements peppered with spontaneous improvisation, just as the beautiful and enigmatic Argentine Tango dance is known for, keeping us totally mesmerized.

With their 5th European Tour scheduled for April - May 2013, these masterful musicians have completed 4 tours, 150 concerts in 80 cities around Europe. Included in these tours, Alejandro teaches  Argentine Tango history and musicality workshops in universities the world over!

This historic moment in Alberta Performing Arts Culture is not to be missed!  We invite local Music Lovers, Spectators, Argentine Tango Dancers, Argentine Tango Teachers, Studios Teaching Argentine Tango and Argentine Tango Organizers, as well as Travelers* from around the globe to join in a very warm welcome of their Premiere in Calgary on their FIRST North American Tour!

8 group classes September 26 - 30, 2012 plus privates

Their talent individually and together runs long with world wide performances, teaching, producing shows at the finest theatres in London, Paris and NYC's Carnegie Hall; collaborated with David Foster on Andrea Bocelli's "Amore Under the Desert Sky", Latin Grammy's, 5 years Las Vegas Tango Festival, Tango Nuevo Cabaret, Kodak Theatre LA, Cheryl Burke to name just a few of a long list!  We are delighted they could join us before participating in Gustavo and Giselle Naveira's Colorado Festival.

Ruta was in the first international ballet exchange for the Bolshoi Theatre, training that prepared her for numerous major, principal roles like, La Belle in "Mystere", Cirque de Soleil Canada's very own famous company.  Drawn to tango in the mid 2000's Ruta no stranger to intense training immersed herself to tango in/out of Buenos Aires, teaching alongwith creating, performing and co-producing many top shelf shows.

Marcos is 3rd generation Argentine Milonguero, learning his first tango steps from grandfather, then intense study with a cherished training pedigree from the finest Grand Tango Maestro's like:  Vilurazo & Elvira, Mingo & Ester Pugliese, Carlos Gavito, Carlos Coppello, Los Dinzels ...on treasuring my working Alberto Podesta.

"I also sat at the table with Carlos Estevez the famous Petroleo he was Mingo & Ester's teacher to talk to him about tango was like talking to God about the world... Pepito Avellaneda was the one that gave me the traspie for the Milonga and pushed me to implement my drumming skills back round to use in the dance... ah Sandra you take me to another time I rarely share!".  He was on full staff of Argentina’s Presidential Committee of Entertainment performing for official presidential events and dignitaries visiting Buenos Aires.

Andrea Monti & Hugo "Gato" Valdez

Hi Sandra & Ralph;

Many thanks for sharing last evening & introducing me to dancing the Tango.

Considering all the hard work you put in to make these evenings successful Sandra.

May I suggest that you arrange to have someone else looking after kitchen duties so that you can be free to dance , mingle and have more fun.

I look forward to being with you both for Valentine's Milonga Feb. 13th.

Cheers!

Hi Anthony…It was a wonderful event. Thank you for your instruction.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the class.

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with Frank and Tess. They took me to buy shoes and then we practiced for 2 hours. The shoes made a world of difference…Frank thought it was more his instruction….Ha, Ha!

Have a good week! See you soon….

Thank you for a fabulous time...

Hello Sandra,

I would like to let you know that I had a fabulous time in the Milonga last night.

The venue, the people, the conversations, the food, the music and the dancing were all enjoyable. In addition, the promotion of multi-culture - giving out red pockets for the Chinese New Year was noted and appreciated!

I also enjoyed dancing a little bit of other Latin dances – Cha cha, Salsa, Merenge, Cumbia and Rumba. Thank you.

I look forward to attending the next Milonga. Hopefully, you and I could dance a song or two.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

forwarded from Anthony re: The Argentine Tango

Hi Anthony;

I enjoyed your Tango demonstrations, you are poetry in motion on the dance floor.

I really appreciated having the opportunity to share your table & visit with you in addition to receiving your patient Tango instructions.

It is very gracious of you to offer to teach me to dance the Argentine Tango and I am enthusiastically looking forward to mastering this very expressive Dance.

I realize that You are celebrating The New Year of The Tiger and The Olympic games are also being televised, however, I will make myself available at your convenience.

Hi Sandra & Ralph;

Thanks to You & Ralph for hosting a beautiful event.

Sandra's untiring organizational abilities combined with Executive Chef Ralph's culinary expertise set the tone for a delicious evening of music for tango.

Congratulations for hitting another home run,

Ron

Gung Hay Fat Choy to you too Ron,

Thanks for the praise. Remember, it is the lady that makes a guy look good on the dance floor, ALWAYS.

Us guys are merely coat hangers, our partners are the beautiful fabrics hanging on, our job is to debut the fabrics in attractive waves of wind.

Certainly nice to connect up with you, I shall make some arrangement to get you a good training partner and we shall take your dancing to serveral nodges up in no time.

Stay tune and take care,

Anthony

Glad to contribute, Sandra and thanks for the invitation. You and Ralph and become a very important social centre for tango in Calgary very quickly!

Sorry I left early. I've been working very long days during the week, part of the weekend, because a broker has left and I'm taking over his book. That is on top of my regular work and although it's rewarding it's very tiring! As well, I've been fighting sinusitis for weeks now (I really don't like taking antibiotics), so I need lots of sleep.

Take care, see you on the dance floor soon,

David

Hi Ron!

I'm so pleased you'll be joining us for the Mardi Gras Milonga!

We have all been where you're at, but part of the Tango spirit is to share that joy. In Tango, you are always learning.

It is a pleasure to see your enthusiasm and there is no doubt with guidance from Anthony, Tess and Frank plus your keen desire to Tango, it will soon flow.

It is practice, perseverence and more practice, but there is no doubt - you will develop into a beautiful Tanguero, especially with your tall frame and long legs.

We believe in you and know, the butterfly that resides within will emerge.

See you this evening!

Hola Guylene, Sandra, Ralph,

Couldn't make it to tango tonight because I'm packing for a four day trip to Banff - leaving

tomorrow and reutrning Sunday - and then for my trip to AR, which leaves Monday morning. I'll be

Thu, Mar 4, 2010 at 1:26 PM

Hello Sandra!!!

How are you?

Thanks for your e-mails and for the reminder for the Tango Practica on Thursdays and Sundays.

I will be there on Sunday for sure.!!! I will not be able to go on Thursdays because I have some classes in Bow Valley at that hour.

By the way, I would like to confirm my assistance to the Milonga on March.

The last Milonga was incredibly beautiful. I enjoyed every part of it: the decorations on the tables, the music , the food -which was so delicious- and the most important part: all the people who made an extraordinary atmosphere.

Everybody was still there at 1am. It is a pity that I had left because the cab was already there waiting for me, but for the next Milonga I will take the necessary previsions to leave it later.

:D

Thanks again for such incredible organization, for your effort and enthusiasm to organize it, a marvelous option that is already lighting the Tango life in Calgary.

Regards,

JUAN CARLOS
